Shazam is the latest superhero movie that has gotten us talking for quite some time now. Today, the second Shazam trailer came out – and the release date is now official! Moreover, we also have details about the Shazam runtime and post-credit scenes from the movie.
Let us take a closer look at all of these elements and see if Shazam can help the DC Universe bounce back.
Shazam Trailer: What Do We Make of It?
The second Shazam trailer is unlike anything we’ve seen in quite some time. It not only shows the superhero in action – but it also shows the actors comment on the characters. It has a behind-the-scenes sort of a feel and feels really fresh. The trailer features a number of funny scenes from the movie.
Interestingly, this Shazam trailer also gives us an insight into the villains. Billy Baston enters a chamber which features the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man. These sins are Pride, Envy, Greed, Anger, Sloth, Gluttony and Lust. These are likely to play a key role in providing superpowers to Shazam’s enemy Doctor Sivana.
Interestingly, we also see a small reference to Superman in a newspaper. Batman’s Batarang is also visible. However, the creators of the movie had stated in the past that this is a completely standalone film. Nevertheless, it was a cool easter egg!
Shazam Trailer Reveals Release Date:
The new Shazam trailer officially gives us the release date of the movie. Shazam is all set to hit the theatres on the 5th of April, 2019! The DC universe delivered a massive hit last year in Aquaman. It would be interesting to see if they can recreate the same magic with Shazam.
Moreover, with other projects such as a standalone Joker movie lined up for later this year and Wonder Woman 1984 coming out in 2020, DC looks to be on a roll!
No Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, but Shazam Post-Credit Scene and Runtime Confirmed!
Producer Peter Safran has confirmed that Shazam will have a two-hour runtime. This was revealed during a roundtable organized by Screen Rant where the director and the producer of Shazam were present. With this new Shazam trailer out, we are more excited than ever before to watch the movie! Thankfully, it’s less than two months away!
Furthermore, details from IGN point out that Shazam will also have a post-credits scene. (Sadly, it is not going to feature Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as Black Adam). In the past, Johnson himself had expressed the desire to appear on Shazam as Black Adam. However, it has since been confirmed by Safran that this is not going to happen.
This new Shazam trailer confirms that Shazam is different than what we see in DC movies. Unlike the darker, more action-packed movies, Shazam is a light-hearted movie filled with magic! This gives it just the right kind of uniqueness DC needs in their movies! We feel the hype! Do you?
