The Las Vegas Raiders are on the hunt for defensive reinforcements, particularly in the pass rush department. With a need for depth behind Maxx Crosby and Malcolm Koonce, one name that stands out is former Pro Bowler Yannick Ngakoue.
NFL analyst Kristopher Knox from Bleacher Report suggests that Ngakoue could be the perfect addition to the Raiders’ roster on a cost-effective one-year deal.
Yannick Ngakoue Proven Track Record
Ngakoue, who is currently a free agent, has consistently proven his ability to disrupt opposing offenses. In 2023, he played 13 games with the Chicago Bears, recording 22 tackles and four sacks. Although these numbers indicate a slight decline, his career stats tell a more impressive story.

Drafted in the third round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, Ngakoue made an immediate impact as a rookie, notching 23 tackles, eight sacks, an interception, and four forced fumbles. His standout performance came the following season when he earned a Pro Bowl selection with 30 tackles, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles, and a defensive touchdown.
Consistency Despite Journeyman Career
Despite playing for five different teams since 2020, Ngakoue maintained a consistent level of production. From 2018 to 2021, he managed at least eight sacks each season, including a high of 10 sacks with the Raiders in 2021.
His journey also took him through the Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens, and Indianapolis Colts, where he posted a solid 29 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in 2022.

Ngakoue’s lifetime productivity should warrant interest from the Raiders, even if his recent stats have shown a slight dip.
The team can use his veteran presence and proven ability to bolster their pass rush, especially considering the inconsistency behind Crosby and Koonce. A one-year deal could provide a low-risk, high-reward scenario for the Raiders.
