Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst has expressed full confidence in quarterback Jordan Love’s ability to lead the team to greater heights. After a standout second half of the 2023 season, Love has proven himself worthy of his role as starting quarterback.
Brian Gutekunst Praises Jordan Love’s Leadership
In a recent interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Gutekunst praised Love for his leadership and growth. Despite early challenges, the GM believes Love is the right choice to spearhead the team’s offense:
“There are new challenges coming forward this year and beyond, but the way he’s represented this organization and this team as a leader, we couldn’t be happier about,” Gutekunst said. “Certainly, he played at a very, very high level in the second half of last year, and I think the sky’s the limit for him.”
Jordan Love’s Bright Second Half in 2023
The Utah State alumnus, selected 26th overall by Green Bay in the 2020 NFL Draft, initially faced struggles as he stepped into Aaron Rodgers’ former role after the veteran was traded to the New York Jets. However, Love hit his stride in the second half of the season, leading the Packers to six wins in their final eight games and securing a playoff berth.

During that stretch, Love threw for 18 touchdowns and just one interception, capping the regular season with 21 touchdowns and one pick over the final nine games. His Wild Card performance was no different, with Love adding three more touchdowns and zero interceptions in a victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Overcoming the Odds
Though the Packers were eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round, they led into the fourth quarter and showed a promising offensive rhythm. On the season, Love amassed over 4,100 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 64.2% of his passes and posting a passer rating of 96.1.
Green Bay Packers Building for the Future
As the Packers head into the next season, they face questions about their long-term success. However, Gutekunst is optimistic that Love will continue to grow and evolve into a true franchise quarterback for Green Bay.
“Sky’s the limit” might be an apt description of Love’s potential. As the Packers nurture his development, they aim to build a formidable team around him, hoping to recapture the consistent success that defined the Aaron Rodgers era.
With the coaching staff and front office firmly backing their starting quarterback, the Packers are banking on Jordan Love to deliver in his role as a leader and offensive powerhouse, keeping Green Bay competitive in the seasons to come.
