In a candid interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Cleveland Browns’ GM Andrew Berry expressed optimism about Deshaun Watson’s progress after the quarterback’s November shoulder surgery:
“We feel very good about the transition. He is in a good spot mentally and physically,” said Berry. “He’s been rehabbing the shoulder injury, but he is well on his way there and in a really strong spot. I think he’s a lot more comfortable within the organization.”
Berry emphasized Watson’s seamless integration with the team’s offensive core, who have gained valuable experience playing together in recent seasons.
Cleveland Browns Aiming for Offensive Success in 2024
Despite Watson’s shoulder surgery and previous suspension impacting his time on the field, Berry remains confident that Cleveland’s offense will be fully prepared for the season opener:
“We do expect to hit the ground running on that side of the ball, and I know he is very excited about returning to the playing field and getting over this injury,” said Berry. “We do have high expectations for him and the offense this season.”
Evaluating Deshaun Watson’s Performance
The Browns traded for Watson in March 2022, providing the former Houston Texans quarterback with an unprecedented, fully guaranteed $230 million contract. Since joining Cleveland, Watson has faced various challenges, including an 11-game suspension and his shoulder injury, limiting him to just 12 games in total.
