Pro Football Focus analyst John Kosko is among those who think Bo Nix has walked into an advantageous environment in Denver. He believes that with little competition for the starting role, Nix should immediately become the Broncos’ main man under center.
“Nix should be the day-one starter for the Broncos in 2024,” Kosko wrote. “While drafting a quarterback early is often a tell-tale sign of that, sometimes the roster doesn’t need it (looking at you, Atlanta). Nix, on the other hand, walks into a quarterback room with very little competition for the starting job.”
The Broncos recently released veteran Russell Wilson and now have Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson on their depth chart. While Wilson was acquired from the New York Jets via trade, Nix’s polished skill set and promising future make him the clear favorite to start.
Bo Nix: A Promising Addition to Denver Broncos Quarterback Lineup
Nix brings impressive credentials to Denver after a stellar season at Oregon. In 2023, he completed 77.4% of his passes while throwing for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. Adding to his versatility, he rushed for 234 yards and six touchdowns.
Kosko acknowledges the challenges that await any rookie quarterback but remains optimistic about Nix’s potential to grow:
“Nix will endure his struggles as any rookie does, but if Denver can protect him, he has quality receiving options to distribute the ball to and can develop into a reliable NFL starting quarterback.”
Denver’s coaching staff will look to insulate Nix with strong offensive weapons and a tailored system, hoping to facilitate a seamless transition. With an excellent receiving corps and an offensive line eager to protect their new leader, Nix has a great opportunity to prove doubters wrong.
