Ezekiel Elliot and Dallas Cowboys drama is still not over as the NFL star has rejected the blockbuster offer made by the team. The Cowboys in a bid to repair the damage done by owner Jerry Jones offered Zeke a huge contract. Elliot could have earned around $14 million per year making him the second-highest paid running back in NFL.
But he refused to accept the offer and it is apparent by the fact that Zeke is still missing out training camp. One would wonder why did the player say no to such an amazing offer and it is an interesting thing. Elliot and his agent believe that Cowboys needs the player and they would be willing to spend more. The way Dallas team is still trying to convince Elliot, offering him the highest salary deal is now imminent.
Cowboys needs Elliot Badly
Ezekiel Elliot turning down such a huge offer is still a mystery to many but the reason is very simple. The Cowboys needs Zeke more than the player needs the team. Todd Gurley is currently the highest-paid running back in Los Angeles Rams and even without him, the team would have done fine. The same can also be applied with LeVeon Bell and New York Jets as they had no plans to invest long term money on him.

Sources: The most recent offer in negotiations between holdout Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys came from the team. Elliott has been offered a contract making him one of the NFL’s 2 highest-paid RB. That would suggest team offering more than LeVeon Bell and less than Todd Gurley.

Elliot on the other hand is the player that is essential for the Cowboys. Without Zeke, the Dallas team can fail badly and the NFL 2019 regular season is not far. Adding the insult done by Jerry Jones, the Cowboys are forced to offer more money as they need Elliot very badly in their roster.
Team Dynamics without Elliot
Tony Pollard is the only possible replacement for Elliot and the Cowboys knows he is no match for him. Even if Pollard manages to play well in a few matches, he can never have the same numbers as Elliot. One major reason why the Cowboys requires Zeke is that he strengthens the whole roster with his presence.
Dak Prescott was asked near the end of his news conference if he reaches out to Ezekiel Elliott about his holdout as the season draws near.

Dak Prescott is a great quarterback but he needs Elliot on the other side to make a strong offensive side. Zeke is known for his record 304 rushes and 77 catches which can never be replaced. Dallas Cowboys will never be the same team without Elliot and might lose the competition for the next NFL title.
