NFL fans are done! Taylor Swift’s coverage at NFL games went to a whole new level this week and many NFL fans were not thrilled. NFL fans are significantly less enthused by Taylor Swift’s frequent visits than Travis Kelce, who may find it amusing to see her face in the crowd. As you are aware, the alleged romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has had a significant impact on pop culture.
Taylor Swift’s Coverage During Games Has Left NFL Fans Furious
Taylor Swift has been to two games at Arrowhead Stadium since Travis Kelce initially invited her to watch him play there last month; the first was on September 24 in Kansas City when the Chiefs played the Chicago Bears.
She made a second appearance at the Chiefs vs. New York Jets game at MetLife Stadium a week later on Oct. 1, this time accompanied by a large group of A-list friends, including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Sophie Turner.
As you are aware, the NFL has thoroughly embraced Taylor’s participation at the games over the past two weeks, prominently taking advantage of her name, images, and even references to her lyrics across all of their social media platforms. According to sources, the football league briefly changed its name on Twitter to read: “NFL (Taylor’s Version).”
Other NFL fans also discussed Swift’s apparent rekindled love of football (and football’s love of Swift) on X, formerly known as Twitter.
More recently, following the Chiefs’ victory over the Jets on Sunday, the NFL changed the header of their website to three images of Taylor supporting her team and their bio to include a line from one of her songs.
And the league isn’t just focusing heavily on the Swiftie era online. The cameras regularly cut to Taylor in the crowd during the TV broadcasts of the two games she attended, and the commentators frequently brought her up.
Travis Kelce About Taylor Swift
She was even seen in Kelce’s private suite with his mother. Kelce went on to gush about his rumoured new love interest:
“I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her — the friends and family. She looked amazing and everybody was talking about her in great light.”
Even though the 33-year-old claimed that Chiefs supporters were “All excited that she was there,” the novelty may have worn off since when the hitmaker was featured on screen at a recent game, fans were said to have literally grumbled.
Fans Reaction On Taylor Swift’s Coverage At Games
In a question directed at NBC, one person wrote:
“Are you going to stop showing Taylor Swift and focus on the game?”
“How many times does @SNFonNBC plan on showing Taylor Swift tonight?”
another asked.
“NBC showing Taylor swift every 35 seconds finally justifies my hatred for the chiefs,”
wrote someone else.
Jason Kelce, a fellow football player, pleaded with the NFL not to ‘go overboard’ with the coverage of the stars in light of the plethora of celebrities that have been attending Kelce’s games with Swift.
“I just think the NFL is not used to celebrities coming to the games,”
the Philadelphia Eagles player said. Like, basketball has it figured out. They’re all courtside, they’re sitting there. They show them once or twice, but they get back to the game. The NFL is like,
‘Oh, look at these A-list celebrities at the game’ – and keep showing them.”
He added:
“You can’t be overboard with it. People are there to watch the game.”
The fanfare began nicely, much like many web trends. However, as Taylor Swift’s coverage became more and more widespread throughout the course of the weekend, folks started to get a little weary of it all.
Booing an advertisement for her Eras Tour movie that was playing in the stadium was a way for New York Giants supporters to express their dissatisfaction. Another spectator was observed at the same game with a sign that read, “Not a Swiftie.”
