The Boruto series made an exciting comeback with the release of Two Blue Vortex. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has always received backlash due to poor animation and severe plot holes. Cherami Leigh and Robbie Daymond, Boruto’s Sarada and Mitsuki Voice Actors, discuss some of the shocking blunders that the series made.
Cherami Leigh and Robbie Daymond Share Their Experience From the Boruto Anime Series
Cherami Leigh and Robbie Daymond talk about their experience in an interview with SYFY and how excited they were when first approached as the voice actors for the sequel of the legendary show Naruto.
Cherami revealed that she enjoyed voicing the arc from the show, in which Sarada was trying to discover who her parents were, as that felt quite a fun and emotional journey to her.
I love that whole arc of her kind of finding who she is, and where she comes from. Because, well, we all know her dad is not really the most active father, and he’s not there all the time, and so I think a lot of kids just want that, but if you don’t look like your family or you don’t feel like you fit in you just kind of want that validation of ‘where do I really belong’ and that was a really fun journey to go on through the eyes of this character
Cherami, who voices Sarada, also expresses confusion about her character looking like Karin. Even though an explanation has been provided behind Sarada wearing glasses and sharing some of Karin’s DNA in the anime series, Leigh still finds it a bit confusing and a major pothole.
So I had I really loved the first scene where we got to see sorry to meet her dad and how that reunion did not go I think as either of them had planned. Finding the picture going ‘she’s in a picture with my dad wait I look just like her maybe my whole life is a lie.’ Because anime, yeah!!! Talk to your kids, that’s a lesson this shows, have a conversation, clear those things up so that kids don’t run away on an epic journey.
As Mitsuki is a mysterious character with a calm nature residing in a fierce killing mode, Robbie Daymond, voicing Mitsuki, finds it intriguing how his character discovered potential powers out of nowhere in a few episodes, as he shared his favorite moments from the series.
I always like that when we get a little taste of all the characters’ powers. So the cool thing about Mitsuki is that nobody knows anything about him. It feels like every dozen or so episodes, he does something crazy, like ‘oh he’s got stretchy arms’ and they’re like ‘oh no’ he’s got real snakes he can talk to and then he’s on his snake phone calling his own boy and nobody knows who it is. Then he’s like ‘oh yeah I got lightning dragons too’ and ‘oh yeah I could do some other stuff that hasn’t come out yet.’
Robbie Daymond also admitted to being a manga and anime fan for a long time and started with various Shonen monthly mangas. He revealed that his first-ever anime was Ninja Scrolls.
I’m a little bit older so when I got into it I wasn’t like in high school. I was coming up on like my shounen jump monthly like I was reading like Naruto, One Piece, Shaman King, Yu Yu Hakusho. I think accidentally the first anime I ever saw was Ninja Scroll. I think my parents accidentally rented it for me. Don’t rent a ninja scroll for your kid.
