The venture which is based at Houston that has been planning to put a luxury hotel in the orbit of the Earth has reportedly kicked off an effort in crowdfunding which is aimed to raise around $2 million in its new investment.
The online investment service, SeedInvest is presently running a campaign which is operating below a specialised set of regulations which are allegedly developed by the Securities & Exchange Commision.
This is quite similar to the sites of crowdfunding which is similar to Kickstarter – rather than being rewarded with gizmos’ discounts and T-shirt as rewards. The contributors of the investment receive securities which are generally in the form of equity.
During the first few hours of the campaign of 50 days, Orion Span has attracted an investment more than $150,000. The round of funding can amount to $2 million with a valuation cap of $5 million.
CEO and founder of Orion Span, Frank Bunger, has revealed in a news release that the campaign based on crowdfunding has provided a great opportunity which enables people to invest” in the vision of Orion Span to make space much more accessible which is accompanied with the Aurora orbital station.
Bunger also said that the moment when they introduced Aurora Station this year, they had an overwhelming response. And this didn’t surprise the company as there is a lot of excitement regarding space travel as of now. The company has shared their enthusiasm in opening up the project to a wide array of the public that has given people a chance on chipping into the ultimate mission in colonising space.
The company has planned to build a standalone space station in-house and then later send the space station to the lower orbit of the earth in the year 2021. Orion Span also said that they would allow 12-day trips in the year 2022.
