Paul Bernon is an American entrepreneur and movie producer who obtained a bachelor’s degree in film from Boston University and a master’s degree in real estate from New York University.
He is the founder and Managing Partner of PMB Ventures, a Boston-based investment firm specializing in real estate, entertainment, venture capital, and sports investments.
The present collection of businesses owned by the company encompass Rubicon Real Estate, Burn Later Productions, Reggora, FIVE, Forge, hoo.be, Mingle Mocktails, Pickle4, point.me, Religion of Sports, The Black Dog, and WiTricity. Additionally, he holds ownership in Rugby FC Los Angeles and Bay FC.
Film Career
In 2012, Paul Bernon created a short film named Teacher of the Year which was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival and is currently available on Funny or Die. That same year, he co-established Burn Later Productions, an independent film production company, and took on the role of executive producer and financier for the documentary Best Kept Secret, which focuses on Autism.
After the movie’s release, Paul Bernon was recognized as a “pioneer in leadership” for his efforts in supporting individuals with disabilities. In 2014, he received a Peabody Award as one of the film’s executive producers.
Bernon’s early experiences in film production included financing and executive producing An Oversimplification of Her Beauty. He then produced Drinking Buddies, using connections he had made through his screenings of Teacher of the Year. In 2015, he also produced Adult Beginners and Results, a romantic comedy that premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
In 2016, he created the comedic movie The Intervention, followed by the films Small Crimes and Lemon in 2017. Two of his projects, A Kid Like Jake and Hearts Beat Loud, featuring top actors such as Claire Danes, Jim Parsons, Octavia Spencer, Priyanka Chopra, Nick Offerman, Kiersey Clemons, Ted Danson, and Toni Collette, debuted at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and were later released in theaters in June 2018.
In addition, Paul Bernon served as an executive producer for the movie Support the Girls (2018) featuring Regina Hall and Haley Lu Richardson, as well as Dude (2018).
He produced Good on Paper (2021) starring Iliza Shlesinger and Ryan Hansen, and also executive produced the upcoming film I Love My Dad (2022). His latest executive producer credit is for the movie Mother, May I? (2023). Bernon is a member of the Producers Guild of America.
