The Peaky Blinders is being turned into a movie as per one of the directors. Steve Knight, the creator of the show, is writing a script for the movie at present.
Cillian Murphy, who plays the role of Thomas Shelby, confirmed that the show creators are planning about the plot and he is excited to see how it turns out. When asked about it, Otto Bathurst, who is the director of season one’s first three episodes, said,
I think it’s actually being written. I think Steve, Steve Knight the writer, I think they’re planning something, yeah.
Back in 2016, Otto has mentioned that talks were going on about creating a movie and it the chances of its happening was reconfirmed last year. At the moment, there are no details about the cast and the plot, but Cillian is truly intrigued about the big transformation of the drama into a movie.
The filming of season five is currently going on and will be released next year. In the show, Tommy and Arthur are seen suffering from PTSD and nightmares are haunting them after World War I. Annie Harrison Baxter will be the one to produce the new series which will see the return of a lot of familiar characters after the vicious gang war.
Apart from the familiar ones, some new characters will also join the cast. Sam Claflin, who starred in Hunger Games and Anya Taylor Joy from Split will be among the new faces that will be joining the cast. There are rumors that this could be the last part of Peaky Blinders series. The journey of Shelby will come to a conclusion in this part.
Earlier in May, Steve Knight confirmed that the show will contain a total of seven seasons, so we are yet to see what comes next. He said,
My ambition is to make it a story of a family between two wars, so always I’ve wanted to end it with the first air raid siren in Birmingham in 1939. It’ll take three more series [to reach that point].
