Peter Jackson did his career with horror movies Bad Taste and Dead Alive before entering the Lord of the Rings films. The revelation about the remake of these horror movies was made by Jackson himself. Jackson said,
Anything from those films that is available is, like, 1990s Telecine things, which is the best that we had… compared now, they look bloody awful. I just haven’t re-released them because, if I do, I want them to look really good. We’ve actually done some experiments. They look bloody fantastic. They look like they’re shot on 35mm.
Jackson also added that around 4k copies of the movie will be restored and will be back into circulation soon. Along with Bad Taste and Dead Alive, Jackson’s Meet the Feebles is also being restored.
