Pixel 3a and Pixel 4 are going to arrive in the market differently. Google is all planning to bring these two stalwarts to the podium with a new strategy. There is no generation to generation stuff now. Google has got a half-step in-between.
So what is Google’s strategy for Pixel 3a and Pixel 4 release?

According to reports, the schedule will be similar to that of OnePlus. However, the specifications and features will be slightly different. Pixel 3a is likely to arrive in May, 2019. We can expect Pixel 4 to release somewhere around October and November as generation 1 and 2 were released October and the generation 3 was released in November.
This release style is quite like that of OnePlus. OnePlus releases its standard products in the first half while it releases its powerful products in the second half.
The difference though is of specifications and features.
Pixel 3a rumoured specifications and features:
• Snapdragon 670 chip
• Adreno 615
• 64GB internal memory
• 8MP front camera
Pixel 3 comes with the following specifications:
• Snapdragon 845 chip
• Adreno 630
• 64/128GB internal memory
• 8MP+8MP front camera
Pixel 3a is more powerful than the Pixel 3:
• 3000 mAh battery; Non-removable
• 5.6-inch display
• 3.5mm headphone jack (this feature right here is subjective; some prefer to have 3.5mm headphone jack while some prefer wireless headphones)
Pixel 3 has the following features:
• 2915 mAh battery, Non-removable
• 5.5-inch display
• No 3.5mm headphone jack
Specs and features that are the same for both include:
• 4GB RAM
• 12.2 MP rear camera
• Fast charging
• OLED screen
