Jaelynn Chaney is a plus-size influencer who made headlines for asking airlines to provide additional seating for heavier passengers. She is now requesting hotels worldwide to make a variety of modifications to better suit overweight visitors – including widening the corridors.
Plus-Size Model Jaelynn Chaney Calls Out Hotel Standards
Last month, Jaelynn Chaney posted a video on TikTok that featured various strategies hotels could use to make their services more accommodating for people of all sizes.
She said,
“I’m on a mission to revolutionize the travel industry, and make it a more accessible, accepting, accommodating place for all. The needs of plus-sized travelers matter just as much as anybody else.”
“We deserve an environment that respects our needs and body diversity,” she continued.
She asked for elevators and hallways that were roomy enough to accommodate larger people and those who use mobility aids. Her requests also included:
“Hotels should provide size-inclusive bathrooms. These should go up to size 6X and beyond.”
Adding further that the staff needs to be trained “to be respectful, understanding and accommodating to travelers of all sizes.”
Chaney also suggested that hotels should install handrails in their swimming pools and purchase more heavy-duty and wider chairs for their lounges and pool-side areas so that people of larger body sizes can enjoy their stay comfortably.
The caption on her TikTok video read as follows:
“Creating a space where every guest feels valued and comfortable is essential. Size-inclusive hotel amenities are more than just accommodations — they’re a statement of respect for diverse needs and body types.”
“From spacious chairs to thoughtful bathroom facilities, every detail matters. Let’s make travel truly accessible and welcoming for travelers of all sizes and abilities.”
Fans React To Jaelynn Chaney’s TikTok Video
Needless to say, the internet was quick to jump in and express their views about Chaney’s online campaign. She received a lot of mixed reactions from the fans. Some fans were very supportive of her initiative.
One wrote, “I agree this is ideal, but some of these are out of the hotel’s control — lift size for example.”
“I’m backing you 100%,” added another.
While others did not hold back and criticized Chaney for her physique.
A user wrote, “How are you gonna ask for things to change, but refuse to change yourself?”
“It [would] be cheaper to diet,” wrote another.
One user called Chaney “entitled,”
“Imagine feeling so entitled to demand that an entire industry accommodate your inability to put down the fork. Wild.”
Jaelynn Chaney Challenges Airline Norms For Plus-Size People
Chaney’s criticism of hotels isn’t something new, earlier this year, she had called out airlines asking them to provide extra seats for plus-size people for free.
In April 2023, Chaney became the focus of attention after launching a petition on Change.org protesting the “discriminatory” policies of U.S. airlines regarding seating. Recently, she has strengthened her stance, telling CNN Travel that she has to pay for two tickets each time she flies.
Jaelynn Chaney suggested that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) require airlines to provide larger passengers with free additional seating, if necessary, in order to meet their needs while ensuring their safety and comfort, as well as that of people seated nearby.
While talking to CNN Travel, she said,
“We need the policies to be a little bit more standardized. At the bare minimum, we need every airline to have a policy that tells people of size how to navigate their airline.”
Undoubtedly, her views were met with both positive and negative reviews. A user named Jimmy Harrity tweeted,
“Actions have consequences this is your consequence for living an unhealthy lifestyle you don’t get rewarded for it.”
Here are some other responses to Jaelynn Chaney’s views.
You are not paying for the experience, darling, you are paying for transport, the flight from A to B. Space is correlated to weight as the easiest standard of measure. Children take up much less space, but still pay full fare. It is not a perfect world.

Damn airlines discriminate against little people as well. The gall of them, I had to buy a separate seat for each kid, when I know both of them could easily fit in one.

Or you could just work out and live a healthy lifestyle. The world doesn’t revolve around you and your poor decision making.
