For fans of the BBC series Poldark, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that Poldark Season 5 has finished post-production and shall release soon. The bad news, is that this season will be the show’s swan song. Writer, Debbie Horsfield has confirmed that Poldark will not be returning for a sixth season.
Release Date
BBC has not announced an official release date for Poldark Season 5. Considering the previous schedules of the series, however, the fans can expect the show to return is June. This is in line with the recent tweet by Mammoth Screen, the production company for the show. The team had indicated that they were in the process of editing the episodes for the latest season.
BBC, though, seems to be in no rush to make any announcements regarding Poldark Season 5. But fans can expect the season to drop sooner than later considering the schedule of its special screening. A special screening of the new season’s premiere is scheduled for June 5.

What to expect from Season 5
The historical drama is based on the novels of Winston Graham. Since the last season was based on the sixth and seventh Poldark books, fans can expect the latest one to be based on the eighth novel, titled ‘The Stranger from the Sea’.
The show may also feature a time leap. The last season covered the time period of 1780 to 1799. Since the last book is set in 1810, there may be a 10-year time jump between the last season and season 5.
The network has not revealed the cast for Poldark Season 5 either. Most of the original cast members, however, are expected to reprise their characters. The protagonists include Aidan Turner as Captain Ross Poldark and Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza Poldark.
