A well-known person in Qatar said that Qatari fans took pictures of Miss Croatia, Ivana Knoll, at the World Cup because they didn’t like the way she was dressed. The locals give us this information.
The model who has been called the sexiest fan at the World Cup showed up on the field during the first game between Croatia and Morocco. She was wearing a bikini top with red and white checks and tight red leggings. Many people in the crowd looked at her when she walked in.
A picture that was posted online after the game showed several happy fans taking pictures of the 30-year-old model.
Mohammed Hassan Al-Jefairi, a well-known Qatari businessman who is known for making a robot, said that the men were taking pictures of her because they didn’t like how she was dressed.
Yesterday evening, he responded to the photo by posting it on Twitter and writing,
Just for your info they take a photo not because they like her but because they don’t like the way she is mis-dressed on regards to our culture.
You can confirm this with any local Qatari Probably to report it.
People who are going to the World Cup in Qatar have been told to cover their shoulders and not wear short skirts. Supporters who expose themselves could get fined a lot or even go to jail if they choose to do so.
On the other hand, Mr. Al-Defense Jefairi’s claims about the men who were caught on camera did not convince people on Twitter.
One wrote:
No offence meant, sir, but your justification is funny. Their facial expressions, body language and how they hold the phone all give away their intentions rather clearly.
You’ve got to admit that Qatari men are no infallible, saying this as a Qatari by the way.
Knoll posted the photo on Instagram to mark the fact that she had reached one million followers, and her fans were quick to point out that the men in the photo were acting in a very strange way.
One wrote:
That’s it, the guy is caught. The wife is waiting at home with a hammer!
Another added:
Full support for Croatia.
Even though most people liked her post, a few said that the outfit was inappropriate for Qatar’s clientele and broke the country’s strict rules about World Cup clothing.
In response to the possible clash of cultural norms, Knoll made the following point:
First I was thinking if the World Cup is happening there (Qatar), for sure they will allow us everything to make it comfortable for all fans without any of the restrictions.
Then I heard about the rules, and I was shocked. The dress code forbids showing shoulders, knees, belly and everything and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t even have the clothes to cover all of that.
I was super angry because if I’m not a Muslim and if we in Europe respect hijab and niqab, I think they need also to respect our way of life, our religion and in the end me wearing dresses, bikinis because I’m Catholic from Croatia who is here because of the World Cup.
Several of Knoll’s posts from the week before had tags for FIFA, an organization that has confirmed Qatar’s strict clothing rules.
She added:
But when I arrived, I was surprised they were not making any problems about dressing, they allow you to wear everything what you want – except in government buildings, and in the end that’s fine.
Knoll said the following when asked if she thought she might be arrested:
I am never afraid of something like that.
Knoll has been criticized more than once for the clothes she chooses to wear to public events.
In 2018, when the World Cup was held in Russia, the model was in the news again because of what she was wearing.
On Monday at 3 p.m. local time (GMT), Croatia will play Japan in a match that will help the country keep fighting for a spot in the round of 16.
