The Swedish teen drama, Quicksand, was released on Netflix on April 5 and fans are already speculating the return of the series for a season 2.
Quicksand: What is it about?
Netflix released 6 episodes of the show in one go. It is based on the story of a teen who is under investigation following the death of some of her classmates.
The premise is familiar to other Netflix originals like 13 Reasons Why and Elite, explaining the sudden surge in popularity Quicksand saw.
If Quicksand follows the same path as these shows, it may soon be up for renewal.
But fans may be in for a disappointment right now. Since the show was released less than a week ago, it is too soon to tell whether there will be a second season. Netflix will be looking at the audience and viewing data before making such a call.
Breaking down the numbers
A Netflix spokesperson revealed that the streaming platform considers a show for renewal if 70 percent out of the total running time has been viewed. This viewing time must also include post episode credits. If the show achieves these numbers, it may see a recommission.
If there is a Quicksand season 2, it will most likely be released in the summer of 2020. The upcoming episodes will see the trial of lead character Quicksand after she witnessed the death of Maja and Sebastian.
All 6 episodes of Quicksand are now streaming on Netflix.
