After O.J. Simpson and Jon Benet Ramsey, it’s time for R. Kelly. America has always been a fan of true crime stories, but in the previous years, this obsession has grown through series and documentaries surrounding various high-profile crimes.
A legal letter was issued
Kelly has had enough and Lifetime is threatened by him that if it doesn’t stop airing the documentary featuring the singer as an abusive cult and sex-crazed leader. Brian Nix, Kelly’s lawyer, has even issued a legal letter warning the network about the “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary which is full of lies.
On Thursday, Lifetime was threatened to take a step back from the documentary or a federal lawsuit will be filed against it. It all began when one of Kelly’s alleged brainwashed sex slaves decided to seek revenge. Joycelyn Savage, the alleged victim, went against her own family and said that she wasn’t a hostage. She was spotted without Kelly last May in Bev Hills.
The documentary containing six parts will feature people from the inner circle of Kelly who have alleged that Kelly has mentally, physically and sexually abused women. As per Kelly, false allegations have been made by the subjects in order to gain fame.
Kelly even has two audio recordings as proof that Lifetime already knew about these lies, but as they have made heavy investments, they refused to turn back.
A statement was made by Kelly and his team which mentioned,
R. Kelly has close friendships with a number of women who are strong, independent, happy, well cared for and free to come and go as they please. We deny the many dark descriptions put forth by instigators and liars who have their own agenda for seeking profit and fame.
Lifetime said that it is providing a platform to women for voicing their issues. It is partnering with influential thought leaders and advocacy groups for the same.
