From a young age, Raquel Pedraza was inspired to play tennis by her parents and her brother, both of whom were huge tennis enthusiasts.
At Fountain Valley High School, she was a star student-athlete, earning four All-County selections and twice being named League MVP. She also achieved the CIF Southern Section Division I singles title in both 2014 and 2015.
Pedraza’s achievements earned her a spot as high as No. 4 in the national rankings by the USTA. She was chosen to represent the country in several international competitions, such as the Junior Fed Cup and the Junior Davis Cup. She even won a silver medal at the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, with her doubles partner Sofia Kenin.

After she completed her studies in secondary school, Pedraza went professional in 2015. She competed mostly on the ITF Circuit, the lower tier of professional tennis. Her highest singles rank was 432 in July 2016 and her peak doubles rank was 267 in August of that same year.
In 2016, Pedraza achieved her greatest success on the ITF Circuit by winning the $25,000 tournament in Orlando, Florida, where she overcame Michelle Larcher de Brito in the championship match. She also secured two other ITF doubles championship finals in 2016 and 2017.
Raquel Pedraza first qualified for a Grand Slam event at the 2016 US Open, where she was given a wildcard. She was eliminated in the opening round by Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic. After becoming close, they began a relationship when they were 17 and then got engaged in May 2016, with Fritz popping the question and presenting Pedraza with a ring from Tiffany & Co.
On July 7, 2016, they exchanged vows at The Village Community Presbyterian Church in Rancho Santa Fe, California, in the presence of their relatives and friends, and some of their fellow tennis players like Steve Johnson and Mardy Fish.
On January 20, 2017, Raquel Pedraza and Fritz welcomed their son, Jordan, into the world. They chose the name in honor of Michael Jordan, who was Fritz’s favorite basketball player. They had also purchased a $2 million home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, earlier that year.
Despite starting their marriage full of hope, they sadly declared their split in February 2019, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized later that same year.
They mutually decided to split custody of their son and to provide financial assistance to him based on their respective incomes. Since then, Pedraza has restarted her life and has been in a relationship with another gentleman since the onset of 2020.
Raquel has also been dedicating her time to furthering her education and engaging in various activities she enjoys, such as taking pictures and painting.
