Is it a meteor or is it an alien invasion or was it a Red Bull stunt? LA residents were shell shocked on Friday night when a burning fireball bolted through the evening skies as if straight out of a sci-fi movie.
The secret turned out to be pretty earthly – a Red Bull stunt involving LED lights and pyrotechnics.
The company’s lack of advisory created quite a stir among the public. The residents of La-La land took to social media immediately, making speculations about the bizarre phenomenon.
Soon after, LA Police stepped in to clarify.
“PSA: A meteor did not crash into Downtown Los Angeles, and no, it’s not an alien invasion…just a film shoot. This is Tinseltown after all,” tweeted the Department Headquarters.

The Austrian company later released a statement that read,
“LED lights and sparkling pyrotechnics that lit up the night sky as the sun set and the supermoon rose.”
The statement came as relief among the locals who perhaps thought they were about to be wiped out by aliens in typical Hollywood fashion.
It is still unclear whether the stunt was a shoot or just another marketing gimmick by Red Bull. The company is known for crazy marketing strategies consistent with its slogan that says the energy drink ‘gives you wings’.
