Richard Gere, who is 73 years old, was reportedly taken to the hospital this week with pneumonia while on a family trip to Mexico to celebrate his wife’s 40th birthday.
A source says that the actor went to a hospital near their vacation home in Nuevo Vallarta and was told he had a lung infection.
Richard Gere was said to have had a cough before the trip. During the trip, his health is said to have gotten so bad that he had to go to the doctor.
It was said that the star of “Officer and a Gentleman” spent one night in the hospital to get treatment for his illness.
Richard Gere has since been let out of the facility, and sources say that his health is getting better.
He was supposedly given antibiotics so that he could keep getting better while he was outside of the hospital.
Silva, a publicist from Spain who has known Richard Gere’s family for a long time, got married to him in 2018 on his huge ranch in upstate New York.
Since then, they have had two sons together: Alexander, who is four, and a two-year-old whose name is not known yet.
The couple took both of their kids with them on their recent trip to Mexico. While they were there, Silva told them that all four of them had been sick recently.
She wrote Thursday on Instagram,
Thank you all for the birthday wishes.. after almost 3 weeks of everyone being sick in our family today finally I feel much better! Thank you for all the love [heart] I give it all back to you!
Before he met Silva, Richard Gere was married to Cindy Crawford, who was a supermodel in the 1990s, and Carey Lowell, who was a Bond girl.
Gere and Lowell were married from 2002 to 2016. They have a 23-year-old son named Homer, after the Pretty Woman star’s father.
When Gere and Silva started dating in 2015, they were both going through divorces from their previous partners.
