The creators of all-time favourite adult cartoon Rick and Morty faced significant issues with the show when co-creator Justin Roiland got accused of domestic violence. Will AI replace the actor following his firing? Read ahead to learn more!
Will AI replace the voice of the co-creator Justin Roiland?
Justin Roiland, in the year 2020, was accused of domestic violence, which led to the creators and other producers of the show having to cut ties with the co-creator. Prosecutors in California accused Roiland in May 2020 of two counts of domestic battery with bodily injury and false detention of an unnamed lady who was residing with him at the time through threat, violence, fraud, and/or dishonesty.
The main issue with this was that Justin Roiland was the voice actor for the show’s main characters. The show has had a successful run of six seasons and is currently in the process of producing another season. The biggest issue that needs to be worked on is who will now voice the main characters.
Details on the future of 'Rick & Morty':
– Justin Roiland’s roles will be recasted.
– Season 7 will come later this year on Adult Swim.
– Season 8 has been partially written.
– Writing on Season 9 has been halted.
– Discussion on Season 10 has been made. pic.twitter.com/peupmwQZKi— ToonHive (@ToonHive) June 14, 2023
Can AI Really Work For Rick and Morty Season 7?
AI-generated voices are used in our day-to-day technology, such as Alexa, Google, Siri, etc. Machine learning and artificial intelligence are the key tools for generating audio and voices that keep the experience authentic and realistic. Will the producers move towards making the show as it was by giving AI voiceovers to the characters, or will they hire voice-alikes for this season?

Steven Levy, the executive producer of Rick and Morty was heard saying this in an interview
“We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast, but I do want to say it’s gonna be great, “It’s sound-alikes,” he confirmed. “The characters are the same characters. No change.”
The fans have started to suggest their own favourites for the role. Tiktoker SeanKellySays has been on the run to be made the next voice actor for Rick and Morty. He is known to make many impersonations of actors and TV voiceovers. Maybe the creators can hire him for the job. The release date for season 7 is yet to be announced.
