The Comeback of a Fan-Favorite Character
Rick and Morty fans, mark your calendars! The much-anticipated Season 7 is set to hit your screens on October 15. But before you dive into another dimension of madness, Collider has given us a sneak peek into what’s coming up. The first few moments of the new season reveal the return of a character we’ve all missed: Mr. Poopybutthole. However, things aren’t looking too bright for him.
“After years of not seeing his optimism in an episode of the series, Mr. Poopybutthole has returned, but he’s not doing so hot compared to when he was introduced in the second season of the Adult Swim animated comedy.”
A Glimpse into Mr. Poopybutthole’s New Life
Remember when Mr. Poopybutthole was first introduced? He met the Smith family under less-than-ideal circumstances. Their house was overrun by parasitic aliens that manipulated memories, causing a lot of confusion and mistrust among the family members. In a moment of panic, Beth shot Mr. Poopybutthole, only to realize he was a genuine friend and not a parasitic alien.
“Filled with anxiety due to the situation, Beth shot Mr. Poopybutthole, only to discover that he was a real friend of the family and not a parasite who wanted to kill her.”
The upcoming episode, aptly named “How Poopy Got His Poop Back,” delves into the character’s current struggles with depression and substance abuse. He blames Beth for his condition, leading to a series of apologies from the remorseful mother. Meanwhile, Jerry is in another room, negotiating with Mr. Poopybutthole’s drug dealer.
The Enigma of the New Voice Cast
As if the return of Mr. Poopybutthole wasn’t enough to keep fans on the edge of their seats, there’s another layer of mystery surrounding the show. After a controversy involving Justin Roiland earlier this year, the team decided to move forward without him, despite his role as the voice of the titular characters for six seasons.
“In a matter of days, the world will know who will voice Rick Sanchez and his grandson for the remainder of the series, with at least forty new episodes left to be released as part of the huge contract Adult Swim signed with series creator Dan Harmon back in 2018.”
Adult Swim has already found replacements for Roiland, but they’re keeping the names under wraps until the credits roll on the first episode of the new season.
