Singers are not happy with President Trump using their music in his rally. President is in trouble once again and this time it’s Rihanna who objected to use of her popular music by him.
The singer used Twitter’s platform to protest against the use of “Don’t Stop the Music”, one of her popular songs that was played at a campaign rally. Apparently, the song was played at a campaign rally for Marsha Blackburn, a Republican Senate candidate, in Chattanooga, Tennessee this Sunday.
Philip Rucker, White House bureau chief at the Washington Post, tipped the superstar singer off that her popular song was played at the campaign rally. Philip Rucker tweeted that there is no other rally like the one Trump holds and everyone loves them. To this, Rihanna replied,
[Neither] me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies. Thanks for the heads up philip [sic]!
On Sunday, the superstar singer was seen endorsing Andrew Gillum, a Democratic candidate, for governor’s post in Florida. Rihanna even posted Instagram to show her support. She said that the Democratic candidate has an opportunity for making history in these elections. We have only seen four Black Governors in the entire U.S. history, but now it’s time to see more Black governors and Andrew Gillum can be the next one and the first one in Florida.
Rihanna isn’t the first one who objected to use of her work at Trump’s event. In the previous week, Pharrell also objected against the use of his popular song “Happy” at a campaign rally that was held in Murphysboro, Illinois. The rally was followed by a deadly shooting in Pittsburgh at synagogue.
Earlier in August, Steve Tyler sent a letter to the White House when Trump used his song “Livin’ on the Edge” at a rally in West Virginia without the singer’s permission. He has made the same request twice in 2015 as well.
