Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal: Nicolas Almagro Shares His Views
In an interview at LaManga Club in Spain, Almagro talked about the challenges one face while playing against the two modern game icons. Clearly, Nadal triumphs over Federer in one of the key areas. Last month at the French Open, Federer was defeated by Nadal who recorded his 24th victory. The Swiss maestro managed to beat his Spanish rival on fifteen occasions. Yet, Almagro feels that it is only a part of the story.

The records may not show so, but Federer is definitely better than Nadal. While Federer has the best technique, Nadal is mentally stronger, which helps him beat Federer. Almagro said,
Federer was my toughest opponent because he played with you and not against you. It was a totally different experience. You didn’t know what was coming next and he had everything.
Federer is talented, but he faces trouble when most of the balls are coming high to his backhand. In such situations, it gets difficult for him to find a solution, and Nadal takes an edge over him. Talent alone doesn’t win you a game if you do not have enough mental strength as well.

Almagro feels that things were different during his generation. In the last fifteen years, the all-time best players have been involved in the game. The ATP may face a huge problem when these legends are gone. Alex Zverev and Dominic Thiem could turn out to be great players, but they can’t match Federer and Nadal.
