At the beginning of the 1980s, Ron Perlman made his first movie. Since then, he has played more than a hundred likable characters, such as the reckless Hellboy in the movie version of the comic book series of the same name, One in The City of Lost Children, and Bruno in Nightmare Alley. Even though this giant looks scary, he has a soft spot in his heart for children and stray dogs. Only his family and close friends know about his kind and gentle nature.
His first role was in a play, and Quest for Fire was his first movie. Perlman began his career on stage before making his film debut in 1981. But after that, he only got small parts or cameos, so he started to think about giving up acting. He was lucky that he got the role of Vincent in the TV show Beauty and the Beast, which ran from 1987 to 1990 and earned him a Golden Globe Award. Vincent was one of the best parts he ever played.

He convinced Ron to become an actor after seeing him in a college play. Ron went to the University of Minnesota because his father told him to. He eventually got a master’s degree in theater arts from that school.
The actor said that it was hard for him to feel good about himself when he was younger. He had a hard time with his weight for a long time and was very unhappy with how he looked. Ron says about himself that this experience helps him play “these sorts of deformed people who are very endearing.”
Even though Ron plays a tough guy on screen, he is a great example of a family man in real life. During their 38-year marriage, he was married to jewelry designer Opal Perlman. The couple said their vows and became husband and wife on Valentine’s Day in 1981. They got married and now have a daughter named Blake and a son named Brandon.
They broke up in 2019, and soon after, Perlman started dating Allison Dunbar, whom he had met on the set of the TV show StartUp. In June of 2022, they got married in the beautiful country of Italy.
Both of the man’s children, the son, and the daughter, followed in their father’s footsteps and went into artistic fields of work. Brandon is a professional electronic musician and record producer who goes by the name Delroy Edwards on stage. And Blake has become an actress, just like her father did.
Perlman likes to show how proud he is of his kids by posting pictures of them on his Instagram account. They both act the same way. A few years ago, Blake celebrated her father’s 70th birthday by posting a photo of him to Instagram with a heartfelt message of congratulations. Perlman shared this photo again with the message, “Love you so much, beautiful Blakie!”
It was February 8, 2022, when Ron Perlman became a grandfather. It was said that Brandon’s son Benny would be coming soon. Soon after, the actor posted a picture of the baby on Instagram. In it, you can see people from all three generations of the Perlman family.
“Got me some fresh back-up. Me and Benny. Can’t miss,” Ron wrote under the photo.
On the other hand, there is something else that Perlman jokes about calling his “granddaughter.” Billie is his son’s dog. He often gets himself into funny situations that make the whole family laugh out loud. By the way, Brandon Perlman really likes the name his father gave to the family pet, and when he posts photos of Billie on social media, he often calls Ron “grandfather.”
Billie also loves Ron, and whenever the two of them are together, he runs up to lick his face. “I wish we could just get along for 5 minutes,” the actor comments.
Nigel, a Jack Russell Terrier, was another member of the family who lived with them for 17 years. Nigel got a birthday message from Perlman every year on Instagram, and Perlman often went with Nigel to filming locations.
The dog was taken from this world too soon in 2021, and Ron shared the sad news on his Instagram account. His supporters backed him up by saying that we will always love our beloved animals.
One of Perlman’s other dogs is named Harrington. Ron and his wife, Allison, got this black Labrador from the JOEY & BAILEY Animal Rescue Foundation, which works to improve the lives of animals.
The actor is in charge of more than just Harrington’s well-being. Ron often posts pictures of dogs who need help on his Instagram account. He also takes part in campaigns to raise money for homeless cats and dogs.
