Reports say that Ronnie Turner, Tina Turner’s son, has died at the age of 62.
Ronnie, whom the legendary singer, 83, shared with her husband, Ike Turner, died Thursday morning after paramedics were unable to save him after an emergency call.
Sources in law enforcement said that they got a 911 call from someone saying that Ronnie was having trouble breathing outside of their home in the San Fernando Valley.
Reports say that Ronnie soon stopped breathing at all and that CPR attempts to save his life failed, so he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The reason for his death hasn’t been found yet, but Ronnie is thought to have had health problems for a long time, including fighting cancer.
In 2018, Tina’s oldest son, Craig, who she had before she met Ike, killed himself. This was one of the family’s past tragedies.
Ronnie was best known for his roles in What’s Love Got to Do With It and Manufactured Funk in the 1990s. He also played bass guitar in both of his parents’ bands.
Tina had Craig when she was 18 years old with the saxophonist for the Kings of Rhythm, Raymond Hill. She also had Ronnie, and she took in and raised two of Ike’s children as her own.
Since 2007, Ronnie has been married to the French singer Afida Turner, who posted a series of photos of them together on Instagram with the caption,
My God Ronnie Turner a true angel, huge soul, highly spiritual. My husband, my best friend, my baby. I your mummy, your nurse, I did the best to the end. This time I was no able to save you, love U for this 17 years. This is very very very bad, I am very mad. This is a tragedy, U with your brother Craig and your father Ike Turner and Aline. Rest in paradise. So unfair.
Ike, Ronnie’s father, also passed away in 2007 at the age of 76. His death was attributed to a cocaine overdose and other serious health problems, such as hypertensive cardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema.
In 1978, he and Tina got a divorce, and it turned out that there had been violence in their marriage.
