Rose Bundy is the sole biological child and daughter of Ted Bundy, the notorious American serial killer from the 1970s. Ted was a man with a history of relationships but just one marriage. He was convicted of abusing and killing countless women and children. It’s interesting to note that he conceived and gave birth to his daughter while incarcerated.
Who Is Rose Bundy?
Rose Bundy was born on 24th October 1982 in Florida, USA. Rose Bundy is a private person and she prefers to live her life in secret. Rose’s mother, Carole Ann Boone, and Ted were colleagues, but their romantic relationship began during Ted’s trials.
Rose has half-siblings on both her mother’s and father’s sides, despite being their only child. Rose’s half-brother, James Boone, was the son of her mother’s prior relationship. She also had a half-sister, Molly, who was raised by Ted but wasn’t his biological daughter; however, he served as a father figure to her. Ted’s long term girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer gave birth to Molly.
About Rose Bundy’s Parents
In 1974, Ted worked with Carole Ann Boone, a mother who had been divorced twice, at the “Washington State Department of Emergency Services” (also known as the “Washington State Emergency Management”) in Olympia, Washington.
According to Hugh Aynesworth and Stephen G. Michaud’s book “The Only Living Witness,” Carole, who was suffering through her second divorce at the time, was very drawn to Ted. But Carole first turned Ted down when he asked her out. Their bond was platonic back then. She was unaware of Ted’s horrible deeds.
Ted was incarcerated in Utah in 1977, but he and Carole maintained correspondence through letters. It was at that point that their friendship turned amorous. Carole even helped Ted break out of the Colorado prison in December 1977, according to Rolling Stone.
In 1978, Ted was arrested once more. Ted and Rose were married in front of a judge in a Florida courtroom during his 1980 trial. By then, Ted had already received a death sentence. But Carole had always thought him innocent.
As demonstrated in the “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes” Netflix series, Carole became pregnant with Rose while Ted was incarcerated. When Carole had visited him in prison, it seemed like he had gotten her pregnant. In the documentary, Ted disclosed that they had bought off the guards so Carole could enter the cell and had sex a few times.
Three years prior to Ted’s death in 1989, Carole’s dangerous, unusual, and dishonest marriage ended despite her unwavering devotion to him and her persistent denial of his transgressions. With Rose and Jayme, Carole permanently relocated to Florida after divorcing Ted. According to reports, she didn’t see or talk to Ted again. 2018 saw the death of Carole Anne Boone, who was residing at a retirement community.
Where Is Rose Bundy Now?
There are hints that Rose Bundy is currently residing in England. In a sleepy village, she is currently a stay-at-home mother of three, having relocated there allegedly in 2002. These rumours are still unverified. Rumour has it that Rose’s mother altered their names so she could live a secluded life. It’s unknown if Rose Bundy is now going by Abigail Gryphon.
Rose’s persona was characterised by author Ann Rule as “kind” and “intelligent” in the 2008 reissue of “The Stranger Beside Me.” She even expressed pity for the family, stating that their suffering was sufficient. In order to respect Carole and Rose’s privacy, Rule said that she had refrained from inquiring further into their lives.
