After RWBY Volume 9 ended in an explosive finale, fans are craving more. And it looks like their prayers have been answered. Season 10 of RWBY (pronounced RUBY) has received the go-ahead, and we could see another season this year. Let’s take a look at what we know so far about RWBY season 10.
What is RWBY about?
For those who don’t know, RWBY is an online American animation project that has been running since 2013. The series was created by the late Monty Oum and produced by the Texas-based company Rooster Teeth, and it follows a group of students who were training to be monster hunters. The show focuses on one particular team of students – Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long who embark on an adventure. The young group of future heroes ends up getting dragged into a series of events where the fate of their world is at stake.
The animation series started off as a small passion project and has since developed into a worldwide phenomenon. The show has built a loyal fanbase and is the first-ever American anime-influenced production to be exported to Japan.
RWBY Volume 10 expected plot
RWBY Volume 9’s ending saw the team return to Remnant after their adventure in the Ever After dimension. Volume 10 will continue with the story and see RWBY and Jaune return to Remnant, to a desert-like setting that looks like Vacuo. Also, given the Blacksmith’s dialogue at the end of Volume 9, there will most likely be a time skip in Remnant, where an indeterminate amount of time has passed.
Volume 10 could see our team exploring more of the world of Remnant and potentially introducing new characters and factions. We could also see more of Salem’s powers and a few episodes could also touch on the backstory of the immortal witch.
Fans will be excited to learn more about the world of Remnant and Salem.
RWBY Volume 10 release date
The Rooster Teeth website got RWBY fans excited about volume 10. In an FAQ about Volume 9, one of the licensing managers, Geoff Yetter, confirmed that while Volume 10 hasn’t been greenlit, the writers are currently working on it. Other than that, there has been no further information on the development or a release date for RWBY: Volume 10. Fingers crossed. Hopefully, Volume 10 releases before 2023 come to a close.
Speaking of where Volume 10 will be aired, Rooster Teeth recently announced a massive update. Before volume 9, every RWBY volume would air on the Rooster Teeth website through their First subscription program. However, as of Volume 9, Rooster Teeth has made the decision for RWBY to air exclusively on Crunchyroll. Geoff Yetter also addresses this change in the Volume 9 FAQ, stating that this was a decision to help grow the franchise, which will certainly continue for future volumes.
You can now watch all the previous volumes of RWBY on Crunchyroll. Volumes 1 to 8 and Ice Queendom are also available on the Rooster Teeth Website, with Volume 9 going on to the site in a year. You can also purchase the volumes on DVD and Blu-ray from Rooster Teeth. The first couple of Volumes are additionally available to rent or buy from YouTube.
