Actor Ryan Carter who played Heckyl in the Power Rangers Dino Charge series is set to make a return to the franchise. As per reports, Carter will return as The Dark Ranger in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. The Dino Charge series ran for one season from 2015 to 2016 on Nickelodeon which had 22 episodes.
Ryan Carter Returns As The Dark Ranger
Carter had first made his appearance as Heckyl in the Power Rangers franchise called the Power Rangers Dino Charge. At the end of the 22-episode series, we saw Carter’s character separating from Snide to join the Rangers. While the show was being aired, many fans speculated that Heckyl would become a Ranger based on Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger’s Deathryuger.
Although, Ryan Carter’s Heckyl eventually became the keeper of Dark Energem which he protected by returning to his home planet, Sentai 6. Heckyl started building a Morpher, based on his Titano Charge Morpher, for the Dark Energem. Soon, Heckyl is able to morph into the Dino Charge Dark Ranger.
What Role Will The Dark Ranger Play In Cosmic Fury?
The Dark Ranger has so far only appeared in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic, so it is unknown how the character will be involved in the Cosmic Fury. According to exclusive news by The Illuminerdi, Ryan Carter will be a part of the Power Rangers Cosmic Fury as the Dark Ranger.
Heckyl has been regarded as an alien from the Sentai 6 planet in the show. It could be interesting to see him refer to his time as a Solar Ranger in the upcoming Cosmic Fury franchise. Since he has previously travelled through space, it makes sense for Heckyl to be a part of a space-themed adventure series.
It surely will be exciting for the comic fans to see Heckyl in the upcoming series which will air on Netflix in the fall of 2023. In an interview, Ryan Carter revealed his audition process for the Dino Charge series.
“I think they had a bit of trouble casting as they went through a couple months of auditions before I first read for the role. I was living in Sydney at the time so I auditioned with a tape. Then, I came to New Zealand for a call back, which lasted a couple hours and later that day I got the role!”
He also discussed how he adapted to his role as Heckyl as the show progressed.
“At the start of filming I listened a lot to Chip (Lynn) and what his vision was for the character, then as the season progressed and the character became my own I started to let him become more colorful. The fun thing about a Ranger villain is that there are no boundaries, they can be as crazy and out there as you like!”
