Critics have said that Aaron Taylor-Johnson and his 55-year-old wife shouldn’t be together because of their age difference.
Taylor-Johnson, who is 32 years old, is known for movies like Bullet Train, the Kick-Ass series, and Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he also played the superhero Quicksilver. In an upcoming Spider-Man spinoff movie, he will play the bad guy, Kraven the Hunter.
Taylor-Johnson is a popular actor who has been linked to the open James Bond role. Reports say he has already met with producers to talk about becoming the next 007.
As his fame has grown, more attention has been paid to his private life, and his wife has responded to criticisms of how they are together.
On the set of her 2009 biopic about a young John Lennon, Nowhere Boy, the actor met Sam Taylor-Johnson for the first time. At the time, he was 18 and she was 42.
At the premiere of the film, the pair announced their engagement, and they got married in 2012.
Since then, they’ve had two daughters: Wylda Rae, 12 years old, and Romy Hero, 10 years old.
Even though they just celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and have said in public how much they love each other and are happy, they still get asked about their age difference.
In an interview with Larry King that has been posted on TikTok, the couple talks about the attention their relationship has received.
The famous interviewer admits that there was a lot of “drama” around the couple when they announced they were getting married because the Fifty Shades of Grey director is older.
King then says how it is easily accepted today for the opposite and mentions how he is 26 years older than his wife, but “no one cares” about his age gap.
He then asks the couple why they think they get so many questions about their relationship.
Sam responds:
I feel like it’s one of the last taboos.
I feel like everyone comes at me with it in most interviews.
It’s interesting because, like you said, I’m sure people don’t ask you often but they do ask me.
It makes people feel like they should have something to say and have an opinion on it.
The couple then both say that they have never really noticed it and that they have only been “connected as soul mates.”
The Bullet Train star blushed about his relationship, explaining that his wife and children are “his life.”
Taylor-Johnson said:
My relationship’s because I love my wife, and I love my kids, and that is my life.
The Tenet actor continues:
The reason I wake up in the morning is to be with my family.
When I was younger acting was my first love and passion, and since I met Sam, she and my kids, they’re my priority and my life, so my work works around them.
