Samsung Android 8.1 Oreo update continues to roll out even at a time when Android Pie is all the rage. Android 8.1 Oreo update first rolled out for the Nexus and Pixel smartphones in December 2017. Back then, Nougat and Marshmallow were among the most popular Android operating systems. It has since changed – and Oreo now occupies a significant portion of the markets.
Given that Android 8.1 is the final version of Android Oreo – as Android 9.0 Pie OS launched after that, many smartphone-makers are ensuring their phones are up to date! Regarding the Samsung Android 8.1 Oreo update, the company keeps updating a number of smartphones from time to time. Let us take a closer look at Samsung’s plans for releasing this update:
Samsung Android 8.1 Oreo OS Update
The Samsung Android 8.1 Oreo OS update started rolling out with Samsung’s tablets. Among the first Samsung devices to get the updates were the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 – these tablets were running Android 8.1 OS update out of the box.
When it comes to smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core and the Samsung Galaxy J5 were the first few smartphones to get the Android 8.1 Oreo OS update. This update later rolled out for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphones, which were Samsung’s flagship devices for 2017.
As of this writing, the Samsung Android Oreo update is currently rolling out for the users of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Next and Samsung Galaxy J7 Core. These two phones are getting the Android Oreo update for the first time. In addition to this, the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017), along with the Galaxy J5 Prime and the Galaxy J5 Pro are also getting this update in Poland. Considering that the update is out in one country, other regions would also get this update in the months to follow.
Moreover, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are both running the Android 8.1 Oreo OS (now upgradable to Android 9.0 Pie OS). The Samsung Galaxy S10 was the first Samsung smartphone to release with Android Pie OS out of the box.
These are the phones which are currently getting the update or have already received the update. Let us now take a closer look at which other phones are likely to get this update soon:
More Samsung Android 8.1 Oreo Updates?
More updates to Samsung smartphones are on their way! Android 8.1 Oreo updates are also expected to release for devices such as the Samsung J7 Neo, as well as the Xcover smartphone. A number of Samsung’s A-series smartphones which came out in 2017 are also expected to get the update to Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
Phones That Won’t Get the Samsung Android 8.1 Oreo Update
Some phones are not going to get the Samsung Android 8.1 Oreo update at all! Older devices, especially the non-flagship smartphones of 2016 are unlikely to get this update. The likes of Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and Galaxy J5 (2016) (currently running Android 7.1.1) are unlikely to get the Oreo update. Samsung is now looking towards the future – as the company gears up for Android 9.0 Pie OS updates!
