The third season of Santa Clarita Diet dropped on Netflix a few weeks ago, and fans couldn’t be more overjoyed. But there is a reason to worry, as Netflix is yet to recommission the show for a season 4.

Santa Clarita Diet: What’s it about
Santa Clarita Diet first aired in February of 2017, with the next two seasons released in March of 2018 and 2019. The show is a horror comedy which focuses on married realtors Sheila (played by Drew Barrymore) and Joel (played by Timothy Olyphant) who live in Santa Clarita with their teenage daughter. Their world is turned upside down when Sheila undergoes a transformation turning her into an undead.
The last season ended with Sheila turning Joel into a zombie, like herself. This transformation is said to be the main focus of the next season as the couple witnesses several changes in their married life.
Could this be the end?
Speculations have suggested that since both of them have turned into the undead, the story is now heading to an end. The show creator Victor Fresco said that Santa Clarita Diet season 4 or season 5 could be the very last. But since it has not been renewed yet, he is unsure about the future.
He also added,
“We’re aware that the show gets more expensive every year. We’re aware of what seems like templates of [Netflix’s] studio stuff now. It looks like mostly three-season stuff. We know they like the show. I like to say the humans there seem to love the show; I don’t know how the algorithm feels about us, and the algorithm makes a lot of decisions, ultimately. So I just don’t know.”
Since the 3rd season has just been released, there is nothing to do but wait for Netflix to greenlight the next season. For now, you can stream all three seasons of Santa Clarita on Netflix.
