Sean Hannity was born in the bustling city of New York, New York. He was the youngest and only male child of Lillian and Hugh Hannity. Lillian had a job as a stenographer and corrections officer, while Hugh served in World War II and worked as a family court officer.
Sean’s family had Irish roots, with all of his grandparents making the journey to the United States. He spent his childhood in Franklin Square, located on Long Island.
When he was young, Hannity had a job delivering newspapers for the New York Daily News and the Long Island Daily Press. While his parents were initially fans of President John F. Kennedy, their political views shifted towards the Republican Party over time. However, they avoided discussing politics openly at home.

In 1996, Fox News brought him on as the conservative co-host of Hannity & Colmes, where he was paired with the more liberal Alan Colmes. He then moved to New York City and also took a position at WABC talk radio, hosting The Sean Hannity Show (1998– ). This show was later broadcast on over 500 stations across the United States.
Hannity hosted the weekly Fox News show Hannity’s America. After Hannity & Colmes ended in 2009, he took over the show’s time slot. In 2016, Hannity strongly backed Republican candidate Donald Trump and criticized Trump’s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.
After Trump was elected president in November, Sean Hannity became known as Trump’s most loyal supporter among political commentators on TV. When Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 election, Hannity argued about the result by referring to unproven claims of voter fraud.

Sean Hannity and Jill Rhodes first met in 1991 at WVNN in Huntsville, Alabama. Hannity worked there, and Rhodes wrote political columns for the Huntsville Times. They tied the knot in 1993. However, in June 2020, the couple revealed that they had officially divorced the year before, although they had been living apart for some time.
Sean Hannity dated Fox News colleague Ainsley Earhardt from August 2019. They’ve been seen together at events like a wedding at Trump National Golf Club. During the pandemic, Earhardt hosted Fox & Friends from Hannity’s Long Island basement. In 2024, Hannity proposed to her on Christmas Day at a Florida church.
