One Piece, one of the most widely recognized “big three” anime series, has a live-action adaptation on Netflix. One Piece Live-Action Adaptation, now at the top of the charts, has captured the fandom’s heart. However, there’s unrest developing among the fans, who now believe One Piece should stop airing its weekly episodes! Why? This article will discuss why fans want more gaps in scheduling for their favorite series.
One Piece Fans Want The Weekly Schedule To Stop
With flashbacks making up over 80% of the storyline, many believe that the storytelling quality is declining daily. Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer are two shows that fans claim are worth the wait since they provide the desired content despite having a gap of at least one to two years between each season.
Fans have consistently criticized the series’ speed despite the One Piece manga being at least 6–12 months ahead of the television. The manga series moves at such a glacial pace that it is impossible to keep up. For instance, more than 25 episodes were devoted to the Sanji vs. Queen fight in the Wano arc.
“I think it’s about time One Piece broke away from its weekly format and adapt an entire arc or parts of the arc like Bleach. The acts of Wano could’ve been released gradually and the anime can take a break till Egghead is over. Seriously, replaying the flashbacks to the extent that it actually makes 80% of an episode is beyond annoying and hurts the story in the process.”

However, one of the fans pointed out why One Piece, even after so many years, is continuing with its traditional extensive number of episodes. One of the many reasons is the Japanese demographic. International fans may watch it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Netflix. However, the series is aired on Japan’s local channels, like Fuji Network.
One Piece backing comes from FujiTV, it’s one of their main producer. That means that OP is scheduled there by the people putting the money to produce the anime and that people gets the money from sponsorship that is paying a lot because of the time slot and OP viewership numbers.

One Piece has one of the finest time slots, airing on Sunday morning. Other anime series will fight tooth and nail to replace it. Since One Piece has been present there consistently for the past 24 years, dividing the show into seasons will be challenging, as they may result in a loss of viewership.
“Majority of animes got a late night timeslot similar to what we have for Toonami and Adult Swim. People watch it online, but it is based on the timeslot of JP channels. Unlike majority of anime, One Piece got Sunday Morning Timeslot which is basically one of the best you could get.”

Since streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, HBO, etc. currently govern the world, many fans feel that Japan should depart from the outdated period of television networks. It is true that Japan has stayed loyal to its roots and still follows outdated technological approaches like using a floppy disk or a fax machine for office use.
“Japan is one of the leading countries in terms of automating infrastructure and transportation technology for efficiency and beneficial user experience… and yet 90% of business establishments strongly prefer physical cash to card.”

Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem that One Piece would ever be featured in Seasons like other anime series currently trending at par with it. As Eiichiro Oda confirmed, he is 80% done with his work with the series, and many predict One Piece will be over within 5-7 years more. In the upcoming days, we are sure Toei Animations has more in store for the fans after the massive success of Luffy’s Gear 5.
