Back in 1883, Indonesia’s Krakatoa erupted, and the explosion led to the spread of volcanic gas and ash into the stratosphere. The made the clouds much more reflective and cooled the entire planet by 1 degree Celsius that same year. In 2018, the United Nations reported that the human activity has raised the atmosphere of the earth by 1 degree Celsius and if the measures will not be undertaken then the results with being catastrophic than ever.
The optimum solution to the problem is staring the human race right in their face, and yes it involves the reduction of carbon emissions. Nevertheless, this optimum solutions is extraordinarily costly, and it is at the same time politically untenable. McKinsey estimated a decade ago that it would cost around $1 trillion to cut the emission of carbon into a half, most importantly in a country like India.
This estimation is less than the cost of sitting hand in hand. One of the analysts has concluded that it is the nature of the human which cannot be fixed and that’s why human being opt for quick and cheap technical fixes.
Another option is the primary cause of the problems that we are facing these days are not because of the concentration of carbon rather atmospheric temperature. There are many another negative side of carbon emissions such as ocean acidification. Human already possesses the knowledge of how to cool the temperature of the planet by reducing carbon. The solutions sound very simple but making the clouds to reflect the light of the sun is much more appropriate than lowering the emission of carbon.
There are better solutions surrounding geoengineering. Even the pure seawater can brighten the marine clouds with a very similar effect, but it is cost more money. Well, geoengineering isn’t a good idea after all. And human being are responsible for global warming, period.
