The return of Shrek news came up five years after Shrek Forever After. Until 2016, the details about the upcoming installment of the animated film, Shrek were scarce.
The news followed NBC’s Universal acquisition of DreamWorks Animation.
In 2019, The Hollywood Reported sources confirmed the lineup of Shrek 5 for DreamWorks Animation and the premier was scheduled in 2019.
