Is it time for a Spy x Family Live Action project after the success of One Piece Live Action? Here’s what showrunner Steven Maeda had to say about it!
Spy x Family Live Action: Could There Be More Live Actions For Fans In The Future?
Netflix has always been known to ruin fan-favorite shows, but the direction of the wind changed as One Piece Live Action received a massive success, breaking through all the curses the Live Action shows usually had. In a candid conversation with Comicbook, showrunner Steven Maeda expressed his interest in working on another Live Action for a popular anime series, Spy x Family.
“I love Spy Family so much. It’s just wonderful. I’ve been chasing Spy Family for a while.”
-Steven Maeda
After the success of One Piece Live Action, it is safe to say that the makers have possibly understood the roots of framing a Live Action for any series. One Piece Live Action went through several criticisms, even before its release, as all the eyes remained on the series, throwing it into a “make it or break it” point. The anime industry is rapidly growing and is projected to reach a market size of USD 60.06 billion by 2030.
While there are no current plans for the Spy x Family Live Action series, seeing the interest of Maeda, the Spy x Family Live Action series is not far from coming live on our screens. Spy x Family is set to come up with a new season this year on October 7, 2023, planned till December 23, 2023. The series is supposed to have a film set for the December 2023 release window.
“I think there are so many wonderful stories. It just has been, I think, difficult getting the crossover… [Anime] really is such wonderful source material. There are so many great manga and anime titles out there that tell these wonderful stories and they just haven’t been tapped yet. And so not every underlying piece of material needs a live action. But boy, it would be amazing to see some of them.”
-Steven Maeda

The Spy x Family anime and manga series has gained popularity among fans, and there is curiosity about how the Spy x Family Live Action adaptation will turn out. The One Piece Live-Action series remained in the top 10 in 84 countries for many weeks and set a record of 287.5 hours of stream time and 37.8 billion views during its first two weeks. If the Spy x Family Live Action receives the same level of attention, more adaptations will likely be made for fans to enjoy in the future.
