The red Tesla Roadster and its mannequin wearing a space suit have recently passed the orbit of Mars successfully. Space X announced this milestone via twitter last week. The tweet also included an orbital diagram showing the exact location of the Starman.
Musk tweeted in December , prior to its launch
[blockquote footer=””]Payload will be my midnight cherry Tesla Roadster playing Space Oddity[/blockquote]
The starman is travelling in an elliptical orbit which is around the sun. It is travelling at a very fast speed of 7 miles per second.
According to Elon Musk who is the CEO of Space X said that it will keep on orbiting for million and billions of years which indicates that the mannequin has a very long journey ahead.
This activity of Musk is also said to be a public relation stunt.
One of the senior astronomers Seth Shostak of SETI Institute of Mountain View, California mentioned
“This car is surely destined to rack up billions of miles.”
This tweet is an indication towards the book “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe” which is written by Douglas Adam. This is the second book of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series.
The tweet said that the next stop is the restaurant at the end of the universe.
Some scientists are not happy with this and fear that the car might get crashed into a planet and may contaminate it. There are chances that it might also crash into the earth after 10 million years or might crash into Venus
The Roadster is travelling at a break neck speed and has covered a great distance in the past nine months since it was launched.
There are chances that Falcon Heavy might send a communications satellite Arabsat6 –A by January 2019.
