Steak ‘n Shake is soon going to be in Des Moines. The director of community and economic development, Clyde Evans, said that the fast food chain that is famous for its shakes and steak burgers is going to open a West Des Moines restaurant.
Jared Hussman, who is a Keller Williams Reality commercial broker, said that Steak ‘n Shake has been planning for it since a year now. Hussman has been helping the franchise to find a suitable location in the Des Moines suburbs. He declined to name them before.
They have looked for several places in Altoona, Ankeny and Waukee, but they have still not disclosed the place yet. He will discuss about the location with the West Des Moines Development and Planning City Council Subcommittee on Monday. Hussman said,
We’re trying to do our due diligence and make sure we have everything neatly in a row. But if this continues to go well, hopefully in the next 30 to 40 days we should have a site picked out.
The franchise is said to begin next summer. A recent survey by the Des Moines Register reported that Steak n Shake is among the most requested business among Central Lowa. Around 8000 people were in favor of Steak ‘n Shake opening a restaurant in Des Moines among the ones who were surveyed. The residents wish to enjoy steak burgers with delicious milk shakes.
In other states, the franchise provides fry meals and burgers at less than $5 to the residents. There are 550 plus Steak ‘n Shake restaurants including two in Davenport and one in Coralville among those in 28 states. The chain is prominent in the Midwest and is also found in Illinois.
We are not sure why Steak ‘n Shake waited for so long to get to the Des Moines metro. But the wait is coming to an end as it will be here next summer!
