Why did Stephanie McMahon resign from WWE?
In May, Stephanie McMahon announced her intention to take a leave of absence as Chief Brand Officer to prioritize her family. On Tuesday, Vince McMahon stated his full support for Stephanie’s decision.
On Wednesday, WWE announced Stephanie McMahon’s resignation as co-CEO and chairman. The resignation followed her father, Vince McMahon’s, announcement of his appointment to WWE’s board to lead a potential sale process. The company named Nick Khan as the sole CEO, having previously served as co-CEO with Stephanie McMahon.
Through a written consent order last week, Vince McMahon appointed himself as executive chairman and brought on former WWE presidents Michelle Wilson and George Barrios as board members.
The board removed JoEllen Lyons Dillon, Jeffrey Speed, and Alan Wexler. Additionally, directors Ignace Lahoud and Man Jit Singh resigned the next day. Vince McMahon, who retired last year amidst a sexual misconduct scandal, returns to lead WWE through potential sale and media rights talks.
