Following his passing, it was discovered that his illness was a result of a previous contraction of COVID-19, which had worsened a pre-existing heart ailment.
He had been admitted to the hospital for a heart problem a week prior to his death and was advised to wear a defibrillator. However, the defibrillator was not on him at the time of his death and was later found by police in his vehicle.
