In an interview with Variety, Ross Duffer, one of the creators of the show, dropped a bombshell and revealed, “Will really takes centre stage again in [season] 5. This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together.”
Will’s Coming of Age
Ross Duffer also mentions that Stranger Things Season 5 will also delve into Will’s coming-of-age journey. He specifies that it is not just going to be about his sexuality but also about him coming into his own as a young man. Fans can surely anticipate a journey full of bittersweet moments. After all, it has not been easy with all those supernatural shenanigans. As Matt Duffer puts it, “We’re starting to see his coming of age, really, which has been challenging for a number of reasons; some of which are supernatural. But you’re starting to see him come into his own.”
The final episodes of Season 5 are also set to “circle back to Season 1.” Yep, that’s right, a full-circle narrative that will connect all the dots.
Stranger Things Season 5: More Character Arcs
It’s not just Will, there is more. Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan’s characters are also set to have their own character arcs, resolving conflicts and exploring the complexities of their being. Quoting Ross Duffer, “The characters have maybe made steps…but that journey isn’t over yet.” This season might also explore more romantic relationships.

Noah Schnapp seems delighted to yet again play Will Byers.
