Will There Be Succession Season 5? Release Date and Renewal Status
Brian Cox, who plays the powerful patriarch, Logan Roy, mentioned last year that none of the cast had their contracts renewed.
I don’t know [if there will be a fifth season]. No one’s, had their contracts renewed,” Who knows how long it will go on? We don’t want it to overstay its welcome, like ‘Billions’; that’s past its sell-by date. That will not happen with our show.
Much to the dismay of many fans Succession Season 4 is its final season. Yes, it is confirmed that there will be no Succession Season 5. Jesse Armstrong, the brainchild behind the series had confirmed that he had decided to end Succession. In fact, Jesse didn’t have plans to continue the series beyond Season 2.
The end has always been kind of present in my mind. From season 2, I’ve been trying to think: Is it the next one, or the one after that, or is it the one after that?

It was Jesse’s idea to not release a Succession Season 5
succession will not end after 4 seasons because the word succession comes from the latin word “succedere” & that sounds like succ ay deer which is a subtle reference to the deer from season 1 which might’ve been a 5 point buck (1 point for each season of the show) pic.twitter.com/Y9I5rxwCkM

Jesse revealed in an interview with New Yorker that he had put forward the suggestion to end the series even before the scripting of Season 4 commenced. Jesse had made up his mind to wind up the story of Roy’s family. The writers then thought of several scenarios.
We could do a couple of short seasons or two more seasons. Or we could go on for ages and turn the show into something rather different, and be a more rangy, freewheeling kind of fun show, where there would be good weeks and bad weeks,
Jesse didn’t like the idea of stretching the show as that would affect the popularity as well as the brand name of the series. His suggestion to wind up things in a quick and efficient manner was accepted, and thus, we won’t see a Succession Season 5.
