Although Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn’s recent split may have upset Swift’s fans, People claims that it wasn’t particularly “dramatic.”
According to a source close to the artist, “differences in their personalities” were a major factor in the breakup.
According to the insider, Swift and Alwyn “have experienced difficult times in the past but have always managed to work things out, so friends assumed they would take some time apart but eventually come back together.”
The insider told People that after six years, it became apparent that they “weren’t the right fit for one another.”
According to reports, the breakup occurred a few weeks ago. Swift and Alwyn’s publicists did not immediately reply to HuffPost’s requests for comment.
People said they were “talking about marriage as recently as a few months ago.”
Taylor Swift and Alwyn began dating in 2016, according to People. According to the insider, when the 2020 pandemic arrived, they went into lockdown together, allowing their romance to flourish in a safe environment.
Aside from their romance, the couple worked together on two of her albums, “Folklore” and “Evermore.” Alwyn, an actor and songwriter, received a Grammy Award for his work in 2021, and Taylor Swift acknowledged him that same year after winning the Grammy for Album of the Year.
Taylor Swift has stated that her song “Lavender Haze” reflects how the relationship felt when it was at its peak.
“When you’re in the ‘lavender haze,’ you’ll do anything to stay there and not let people bring you off of that cloud,” she said in an Instagram post, noting how she and Alwyn have had to protect their relationship from the outside world.
“We’ve had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it,” the singer continued. “And so this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”
Alwyn noted in one of the rare public statements about the affair that he didn’t want to be cautious and private about it, but felt he had no other choice.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn
“We live in an increasingly intrusive culture… Something will be taken the more you offer — and, really, even if you don’t give it.”
However, the insider told People that because of their pandemic solitude, Alwyn didn’t truly “know” Taylor Swift outside of the bubble and that “they’ve grown apart” since then.
Still, don’t expect Taylor Swift to fill her next album with anti-Alwyn songs.
“They are pleasant. “She has nothing negative to say about Joe,” an insider told People. “They simply grew apart.” Taylor is currently concentrating on her tour.”
