Rockstar Games, the popular video games company permitted a terminally ill patient who was an avid gamer to play the game Red Dead Redemption 2 before its actual release. The terminally ill patient identified as Jurian is a big fan of Red Dead Redemption and he is stricken with a fatal disease. He is in the last stages of the hereditary disease – neurofibromatosis type 2. Understanding that he was in the terminal stage, his father along with him attempted to get in touch with Rockstar having heard of incidents where the company offered patients opportunities to play games before they were officially released.

The game is set to be released on the 26th of October and Julian’s father Harm contacted the company seeking a chance for his son to play the game. The patient had made an impassioned plea about his condition stating that he had been on treatment for the last 14 years. He went on to state that he had given up after having survived for so long. The father asked for a chance for his son to play the game before its official release. He sought a copy of the game which could be used by his son to play the game. Rockstar Netherlands was ready to let the boy play the game but it required clearance from the headquarters. The permission was finally granted and following that the company’s employees visited Jurian at his residence and demonstrated the game to the boy. He got a chance to play the game and recounted the same to Gamersnet.nl, a Dutch gaming news portal.

The gesture was indeed incredible and companies that show empathy for others with the human touch deserve special mention. Especially in the case of children whose precious lives will be snuffed out due to disease. For children of a particular age, nothing is more engaging than a game or a sporting activity and most of their childhood dreams are typically centered around performing and experiencing the game or the sport. And a company that is all slated to come out with a planned commercial launch, which specially grants the request of a child deserves special credit.

He mentioned that he had read somewhere earlier of how Nintendo had permitted another patient to play a game before its official release, he was inspired to reach out to Rockstar. The portal shared a very touching account of the boys story. Jurian had reached out to them through the Facebook page and he was on the very last stage of his battle with the disease. He desperately wished to play the game, prompting his father to reach out to Rockstar. The portal went on to describe how within companies, lovely souls existed who worked to make many things possible for people. The portal went on to salute the loving and incredible gesture of the company in the final stage of the boys life and wished him and his family many special moments.
