Who is Terry Flenory?
Terry Flenory was born on January 10, 1970, in Detroit, Michigan. Terry founded the Black Mafia Family in the late 1980s with his elder brother, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory.
Initially, the operation focused on small-scale cocaine sales in Detroit, but it quickly expanded into a nationwide drug trafficking organization.
The BMF developed into a highly organized criminal enterprise, establishing connections with suppliers and distributors across the United States. At its peak, the organization was involved in the trafficking of significant quantities of cocaine, yielding annual revenues in the millions.
The Flenory siblings established significant ties within the hip-hop community. They worked alongside notable figures, including artists, producers, and athletes like Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, and Pacman Jones.
Known for their extravagant lifestyles, the brothers often showcased luxury vehicles, exquisite jewelry, and high-end fashion, further solidifying their reputation.
Legal Conviction
In October 2005, federal authorities arrested Terry Flenory due to his participation in the activities of the BMF. In 2008, he pleaded guilty to charges including drug trafficking, money laundering, running a criminal enterprise, and possessing over 500 kilograms of cocaine with the intent to distribute. He received a 30-year prison sentence, with his expected release set for 2038.
Terry Flenory’s circumstances changed in May 2020 due to the health risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic within correctional facilities. He was placed under home confinement to help reduce the transmission of the virus among those in custody.
In October 2021, unverified reports suggested that Flenory sustained injuries while confined to his home. While this incident has not been confirmed, sources indicated that he allegedly suffered from the attack and continued to serve his sentence while under house arrest.
Pardon
In a notable act of mercy, President Joe Biden commuted the sentences of approximately 1,500 individuals in 2024 who had been released from prison and placed under home confinement as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, co-founder of the “Black Mafia Family,” was also one of the individuals who was granted the pardon. He was serving a 30-year sentence.
