Angela Chao Was Intoxicated On The Night Of The Fatal Accident
Angela Chao, 50, a successful CEO of the shipping company Foremost, met with a fatal accident on the night of February 10, 2024. She drove her Tesla straight into a pond after having dinner with a large group at a ranch near Johnson City, west of Austin. According to the police reports, her friends and deputies tried to pull Angela Chao out of her Tesla after she backed it into the pond near a guest lodge on the property.
Amber Keinan, a friend of Angela Chao, got a call at 11:42 pm. from Chao herself with the tragic news that she was trapped in her car and was drowning. After eight minutes of speaking, Chao stated that she was going to die and said her final goodbyes to her friend.

Chao’s friends attempted to rescue her by swimming near her car and paddling with a kayak, until at 11:55 pm., law enforcement was notified. When police enforcement and firefighters came to the scene, they quickly dived into the water to shatter the Tesla window and rescue Angela Chao. Unfortunately, she was declared dead at 1:40 pm. on February 11, 2024.
After a thorough investigation by law enforcement, toxicology results revealed that Angela Chao’s blood alcohol concentration level was 0.233 grams per 100 milliliters, which is three times more than the legal limit in Texas, which is around 0.08.
Chao served as the president of Foremost Foundation, her father, James S.C. Chao’s charitable organization, and as chairwoman and CEO of the Foremost Group, the shipping company. She resided in Austin, roughly 50 miles east of Blanco County.
Her parents immigrated to the United States from China in the late 1950s. She was the youngest of six sisters. Elaine Chao, her eldest sibling, is married to McConnell and was George W. Bush’s labor secretary and President Donald Trump’s transportation secretary. After her demise, her father, James S.C. Chao, took over as the chairman of Foremost Group. Former president Michael Lee resumed the position of president at the Foremost Foundation.
