The police were in search of a man in Texas because he allegedly filed for divorce using the fake signatures of his wife. He got through the legal process and was able to get a divorce from the court.
Paul Nixon is a man from Houston, Texas, who is 51 years old. He wanted to get rid of his wife, so he thought of a strange way to do it. He went to court with the proper paperwork that met all the legal requirements. The man didn’t just fake his wife’s signature on the papers; he also faked a notary’s approval and got the final divorce decree.
He turned in the paperwork on February 15, just one day after Valentine’s Day. The final decree was sent to him in April. During this time, Mrs. Nixon didn’t know anything about what was going on.
A source heard from a police officer who was part of the investigation.
We rarely see something like this.
Paul Nixon has been charged with aggravated perjury for reportedly lying to the courts about the validity of the forms and information.
According to Harris County Constable Mark Herman,
In this particular case, the gentleman decided to go through a divorce, but the only problem is that he left his wife out of the process. And that’s a violation of the law here in Texas.
The police officer also said that the woman had been divorced for at least three months but didn’t know it.
The poor woman thought she was still married to this idiot.
She was very surprised when she finally got to know about the whole thing. She started finding things showing that he was spending money on jewelry, so she confronted him, and he told her that they were actually divorced,
he said.
Police officials say that the woman contacted them when Nixon told her that he had secretly divorced her and that she was no longer his wife.
So she went to the police and found out that her husband had been in court for three months to end their marriage. She said that she did not have the slightest idea of what he was up to. She also told the officials that they had only been married for a couple of years.
According to the law, the couple is still NOT divorced. Mrs. Nixon didn’t agree, so he lied in court and used fake signatures, as told by the police.
They are still legally married; the fraudulent divorce papers have been retracted.
The police also said they couldn’t find Nixon and that he was on the run. But they are trying to find him, and they hope to find him soon.
We’ve got teams of officers out looking for him right now, but we have an idea where he’s at. So hopefully, he’ll turn himself in. If not, we’ll catch him. Just a matter of time.
He will face up to ten years in prison if convicted,
said, Herman.
