Renewed or Cancelled?
Syfy’s latest space-bound series, The Ark, has many characters, plenty of drama, and a compelling premise. If you’re wondering whether the show has been renewed or canceled for a second season, here’s what we know.
What is The Ark Season 1 about?
The Ark is a Syfy Original set in space, following the remaining crew of a spacecraft called Ark One. After a catastrophic event, these survivors must become the best versions of themselves to stay on course and survive.
Each episode follows a similar structure, with an “issue of the week” to contend with, whether that be a lack of water, hallucinations, or conflicts between the crew.
Has The Ark been renewed for season 2?
As of writing, The Ark has not been renewed for a second season. Syfy and other streaming services use several metrics to gauge a show’s success before deciding whether to continue or cancel it.
While The Ark has been consistent regarding week-to-week numbers, it has been disastrous on both a critical and audience front. Many viewers have criticized the show’s poor execution, bad CGI, and acting, among other issues.
The show attracts around 350,000 views per week, which may seem low, but it is not far from what The Mandalorian Season 3 does on Disney Plus.
Given the show’s setup and Syfy’s track record with space-bound series such as The Expanse and Dark Matter, it is unlikely that The Ark will be renewed for a second season.
We’ll update this section once we have accurate details in the coming weeks and months.
What we know about season 2 so far:
At this point, Syfy has not officially greenlit a sequel for The Ark, so barely anything is known about season 2. If it does get renewed, the story could progress in any number of ways, with another extended run of episodes.
For now, it’s too early to tell, but the show’s chances of a second season don’t look too good.
